Many of the available materials used by psychologists or mental health professionals to assess children's social-emotional functioning simply don't tap their inner thoughts or feelings very deeply.

Checklists and rating scales may rely just on the impressions of parents or teachers, leaving the child out of the assessment process. These tools do not provide rich clinical information about how children perceive themselves and their worlds. The Self-Report and Projective Inventory was developed to fill this gap. With versions for both children and adolescents, it is a comprehensive, integrated set of verbal and nonverbal assessment tools which yield a wealth of high quality clinical information. Its unique combination of self-report and projective materials can help you clearly and deeply understand the perceptions, thoughts, feelings, and concerns of children or adolescents so you can provide your very best clinical services.

The Self Report and Projective Inventory is available in separate versions for children ages 5-12 (CSRPI) and adolescents ages 12 -16 (ASRPI) . Each version include a manual, 25 response booklets and:

• DRAWING TASKS - COLOR HOW YOU FEEL is included in the Children's version. This non- threatening and fun task engages even
reluctant or resistant children to help you tap feelings about self
and significant others. In the adolescent version, DRAW AN ADOLESCENT IN THE RAIN assesses stress, defenses, and coping abilities.

• PROJECTIVE STORY CARDS - 12 innovative and unique story cards portray age appropriate solitary, family, school, or peer scenes. Separate cards for males and females main feature characters with blank faces, allowing children or adolescents to truly project their thoughts and feelings. An innovative story interpretation guide is provided in the manual.

• CRITICAL ITEMS - 40 items reflect a wide range of significant
concerns. Rather than using a limiting true-false response format,
the child or adolescent indicates if an item is not at all like me, just
a little like me, pretty much like me, or, very much like me.

• ADJECTIVE CHECKLIST - PERCEIVED COMPETENCE (Child version) and SELF-DESCRIPTION II (Adolescent Version) assess self, academic, interpersonal, and family perceptions.

• SENTENCE COMPLETION - Items have been updated and expanded to include more family and school related themes.

• INTERPRETATION GUIDELINES - Includes a checklist of 20 clinical dimensions to help sharpen and focus your interpretations.
